The existing school of cosmetology was small, outdated and shared space with a neighboring pool hall tenant. The client purchased the building with the goal of expanding the hair saloon and teaching spaces into the expansive pool hall, and upgrading his school interior and curriculum to become part of the Paul Mitchell Partners School Program. The Paul Mitchell image was expressed in the renovation work and coordinated with representatives of Paul Mitchell. The new space allowed for high exposed ceilings and an industrial framework creating a dynamic space for the students and clients of the school. The building exterior was transformed to a more continuous façade with a prominent entrance. Vertical elements tie into a new horizontal parapet leading to the relocated entrance with new signage, lighting, and views into the saloon area.
