Graterford, a maximum security state correctional institution, is also a historic structure, built in the late 1920’s. This project will replace 1200 of the original cell doors in 3 out of 5 of the primary cell blocks. The existing manual mechanical locks will be replaced by motorized locks with remote control operation. New intercoms and cameras are also a part of the security upgrade project.
The guard control rooms will be renovated and will include new security consoles and touch screen operators. Redundant control in a remote location of the facility is also featured.
The program included providing full security upgrades to existing cell blocks. This includes replacing existing mechanically operated cell doors and locks with new doors and remotely controlled motorized locks, providing new remotely controlled entrance doors and upgrading existing control rooms.
