Converse Winkler Architecture has been working with the School District of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia School Improvement Team on several projects at various locations. The projects vary from painting upgrades, roof repair, façade restoration, boiler replacement, and kitchen renovations. These repair type of projects are of high priority and require quick responses in addressing the problems associated at each individual school.
Randolf Skills Center was a 2,000 sq. ft. renovation to an existing commercial kitchen at a vocational school to accommodate newly purchased and donated equipment. Alterations encompassed space planning and code analysis for multiple teaching and demonstration workstations including food preparation, baking, clean-up and serving.
John B. Kelly Roof was an immediate roof repair project after wind uplifted a portion of the existing built up roof. The project consisted of removal of damaged lightweight concrete, new tapered insulation, and a completely new flashing and 3ply bituminous roofing system with a 20 year warranty.
Northeast High School Boiler Feed Tank Replacement was overseeing the installation of a new boiler feed tank. The construction was phased to occur over the summer, and was done without disrupting school operations. Code compliant access platforms were added for the existing boilers.
