Principal

Nicole believes that architecture enlivens the soul and emboldens communities to embrace possibilities. She has more than thirty years’ experience on buildings large and small throughout Philadelphia and environs. Her renovation of the historic Burrowes Building at Penn State was published in Planning for Higher Education and she is currently working on the multi-phased renovation of the West Chester University Health Science Center. Nicole has served as the national President of Alpha Rho Chi Foundation providing scholarships to architecture students, and on the Board of Directors and Women in Architecture groups of AIA Philadelphia.

Angie approaches challenges with the full expectation of success. A conceptual thinker with an eye for detail, Angie’s twenty years of experience includes complex institutional, commercial and residential projects in all phases of design. Her multilingual background includes English, French, Arabic and she also speaks fluent Engineer, having worked for a mechanical engineering firm. At CWA, she is currently designing multiple projects for Sunrise Senior Living at The Quadrangle and an addition for West Chester University’s Health Science Center. A hard-working, exceptionally skilled team-player, Angie understands intuitively the dynamic of space, object, light and function.

Aaron is a designer with over six years of experience working at firms of various sizes throughout the Philadelphia area. He has worked in the multifamily residential, higher education, corporate, and commercial sectors, among others. At CWA, he has contributed to transportation projects. He is also a skilled writer, having authored a paper on architecture and television published in a journal by Denmark’s Aarhus University. He is currently working toward architectural licensure.

In nearly two decades of practicing architecture, Elin has traveled from Vermont to Vancouver and from DC to Denmark, including several years in rural West Africa, building structures with local materials. Patient, efficient and resourceful, Elin’s skillful creativity is a critical part of her design work. She manages projects with calm deliberation, effectively communicating with clients, consultants, and contractors. Her competitive experience as a swimmer and underwater hockey player is a powerful asset in leading well run project teams. Elin has also served her community as a member of the Narberth Zoning Hearing Board since 2019.

George Buckmann is an architect with over 25 years of experience working for both non profits and private firms. Having focused on affordable housing projects for the last 6 years, George is especially adept at balancing production, quality control, and community fulfilment. His passion for design and quality construction guides every project and results in superb client satisfaction and above standard project delivery. As site supervisor at Habitat for Humanity he has led multiple teams of volunteers and ensured smooth community build events that have fostered positive neighborhood interactions. As an architect and project manager he has worked on a range of projects from higher education and primary schools to retail store renovations.

Jack is a hard worker who prides himself on his flexibility and attention to detail. While proving his mettle in Drexel University’s rigorous ARCH2+4 program, Jack found mentorship under Spence Kass of Kass & Associates. Jack brings to CWA the skills he learned from Spence, including single-family residential design, knowledge of historic architectural styles and construction methods, and an understanding of how to design to meet a client’s needs. Jack is happiest when he can combine his interests in historic, sustainable, and transit-oriented design, which explains why he enjoys CWA’s diverse project load. As the former Head Shop Steward of the Drexel Resident Assistants’ Union, Jack hopes to integrate the lessons he learned from his activism into his design work and future practice as a registered architect.

Jessica is the lynchpin of the firm. Organized, skilled and dedicated to providing a positive work environment, Jessica ensures that accounts are in order, vendors are paid, and clients are happy. She is a trained environmentalist who commits much of her free time to conservation efforts and nature preservation initiatives for the region’s wildlife refuges. A charismatic leader, Jessica is an active participant in the firm’s growth and advancement.

Julia has over 15 years of architectural experience in the Philadelphia region.  She has worked on a wide variety of project types with a diverse array of building materials.  She is a well-rounded architect with experience leading small teams through all phases as a project manager and a project architect and enjoys seeing projects through from beginning to end.  Julia has an interest in sustainable design and experience with LEED research and documentation.  She recently completed a four year term on the Haverford Township Planning Commission where she also served as liaison to the Haverford Township Historical Commission for two years.

Clients trust Peter to design sound structures. Educated beyond reproach, he holds degrees in both architecture and engineering, designed high-rises while working for SOM, fire stations and university facilities for Venturi Scott Brown & Assoc, high-end residential for his own eponymous firm, and taught building design and construction at Temple University. He brings to CWA nearly forty years’ experience with buildings of various functions, sizes and materials. He is currently engaged in projects for the PA Department of Conservation & Natural Resources at Neshaminy State Park, for the PA Game Commission, and for the City of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation.

Yasaman is a designer with experience working on residential and medical buildings and is currently engaged in educational, civic, and transportation projects at CWA. She has a strong interest in how architecture shapes human experience and how thoughtful design decisions influence the way people interact with the built environment. Her work includes material experimentation, advanced fabrication processes, and digital technologies, including robotic fabrication, interactive facade systems, and the prototyping of complex architectural assemblies. She values precision and detail in design, believing that carefully considered architectural decisions define the character, performance, and experience of a space. Across diverse project types and scales, Yasaman strives to create responsive environments that meet each client’s needs and aspirations.
